NCAA hockey coaches in Montreal from May 17th to 19th to scout Quebec talent

NCAA Coaches

Montreal, May 2, 2019. A dozen NCAA hockey coaches will be in Montreal for the 9th edition of Apex sports camp from May 17th to 19th at Jacques Lemaire arena in LaSalle. This camp allows hockey players from age 15 to 20 years old to showcase themselves to NCAA division 1 and division 3 coaches and to learn more about US college hockey.  The camp directors, Claude Morin and Phil Roy, both former NCAA players and Clarkson University graduates are extremely happy to be back for another year. “The purpose of this camp is to inform and educate players and parents from Quebec about NCAA College hockey and to expose them to college coaches”, mentioned Claude Morin. Last year more than 100 players skated in the camp.

Apex’s format will stay the same with practices and games over 3 days. The on ice practices and the presentations will be given by NCAA coaches and Mr. Nate Ewell from College Hockey Inc. Each player will take part in 3 practices, 3 games and an academic seminar that explains all the NCAA eligibility center requirements.

Since 2011, 68 alumni players from Apex have committed or played in an NCAA program. There are a lot of talented players from Quebec and few know about the US College option and what it takes to get there. “It’s a great opportunity for us to identify and recruit new prospects as well as present our programs to players and parents”, mentioned Ben Guite from the University of Maine. “I really like Apex’s concept which gets us involved directly with the players on the ice for practice and behind the bench for games. We get to know them better and it is an important factor when recruiting and making decisions”.

Apex Sports Camp will be at Jacques Lemaire arena in LaSalle from May 17th to 19th, 2019.
